For more than 25 years, the Missouri 10-33 Benevolent Fund has helped families facing the unexpected loss of a loved one in the line of duty.

Every day, across Missouri, thousands of public servants leave their homes to serve and protect the communities they love. Law enforcement officers, firefighters, emergency responders, and other public servants dedicate their careers to helping others, often placing the needs and safety of their communities ahead of their own.

Behind every one of these individuals is a family — spouses, children, parents, and loved ones who share in the commitment and sacrifices that public service requires.

Most families expect their loved ones to return home at the end of the day.

Tragically, some do not.

When Everything Changes

The death of a public servant in the line of duty brings unimaginable grief. In an instant, families face emotional challenges, difficult decisions, and an uncertain future.

Amid the heartbreak, everyday financial responsibilities do not disappear. Mortgage payments, utility bills, groceries, transportation, and other immediate expenses continue, often while families are waiting for insurance benefits or other forms of assistance.

During these first difficult days, even modest financial support can make a meaningful difference.

That is where the Missouri 10-33 Benevolent Fund steps forward.

A Promise Made More Than 25 Years Ago

Established in 2000 through the leadership of former Missouri Governor Roger B. Wilson, the Missouri 10-33 Benevolent Fund was created with a straightforward mission: to provide immediate financial assistance to the families of Missouri public servants who lose their lives in the line of duty.

The organization recognizes that while no amount of money can replace a loved one, timely financial assistance can help ease some of the immediate burdens families face.

Today, the Fund provides $6,000 in direct financial assistance to each eligible family.

This assistance is intended to help families address their most pressing needs without adding unnecessary complications during an already overwhelming time.

It is a practical expression of compassion, gratitude, and respect for those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

More Than Financial Assistance

The Missouri 10-33 Benevolent Fund's work is about more than providing a check.

It is about sending a message.

Your loved one's service mattered. Their sacrifice has not been forgotten. And your family is not standing alone.

Those words reflect the values that have guided the organization since its founding.

The Fund does not replace government benefits, insurance proceeds, or other assistance programs. Instead, it provides an additional source of immediate support at a time when families may need it most.

By responding to families during these critical moments, the organization demonstrates that Missouri communities remember and honor those who have served.

A Mission That Depends on All of Us

The Missouri 10-33 Benevolent Fund operates through the generosity of individuals, businesses, organizations, and community partners who believe in supporting Missouri's public servants and their families.

Contributions of every size help strengthen the Fund's ability to respond when tragedy occurs.

Financial gifts, corporate sponsorships, memorial contributions, and community fundraising efforts all play an important role in sustaining the organization's mission.

The Fund's leadership remains committed to responsible financial stewardship, ensuring that resources are available not only for families who need assistance today but also for those who may need help in the years ahead.

Continuing the Commitment

As the Missouri 10-33 Benevolent Fund moves forward, its purpose remains as important as it was in 2000.

Public servants will continue to answer calls for help, respond to emergencies, protect communities, and serve the people of Missouri.

And when tragedy strikes, the Missouri 10-33 Benevolent Fund will continue working to ensure that their families receive timely assistance and know their loved one's sacrifice has not been forgotten.

We cannot prevent every tragedy.

We cannot take away a family's grief.

But together, we can make certain that when the unthinkable happens, Missouri families have someone standing beside them.

Because honoring those who serve means remembering and supporting the families they leave behind.
