History

A “Signal 33” is the radio call meaning an officer is in need of immediate assistance.

When Missouri public servants make the ultimate sacrifice in service to their communities, the Missouri 10-33 Benevolent Fund steps forward to provide immediate financial assistance to the families and loved ones they leave behind.

Founded as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, Missouri 10-33 exists to honor and support the men and women who dedicate their lives to protecting and serving the citizens of Missouri. What began primarily as support for law enforcement families has expanded over the years to include firefighters, emergency medical personnel, corrections officers, probation and parole officers, transportation employees, conservation agents, park rangers, judicial employees, and Missouri utility and electric cooperative line workers who serve communities during emergencies and disasters.

Today, Missouri 10-33 is the only statewide organization of its kind serving all 114 counties and the City of St. Louis while supporting families from multiple public service sectors across Missouri.

To date, the organization has provided immediate financial assistance to 149 Missouri families following line-of-duty deaths involving law enforcement officers, firefighters, corrections personnel, transportation employees, and utility line workers.

Unlike many charitable organizations, Missouri 10-33 operates with minimal administrative overhead, allowing donations and fundraising proceeds to directly support the organization’s mission of assisting Missouri families during times of unimaginable loss.

Behind the mission is a small but deeply committed group of volunteer board members and supporters who work tirelessly to ensure assistance is delivered quickly, compassionately, and privately.

We believe service should never be forgotten, sacrifice should always be honored, and families facing tragedy should never stand alone.

Frederick "Rick" Wilson
Former President, Board Member And Advocate For Missouri Families

Rick Wilson carried forward a family legacy deeply rooted in public service and sacrifice. As the grandson of Roger I. Wilson, the Boone County Sheriff who was killed in the line of duty in 1933, Rick understood firsthand the lasting impact that loss has on a family. That understanding became the foundation of his passion for the Missouri 10-33 Benevolent Fund.

Rick served the organization with quiet strength, loyalty, and compassion. He believed deeply in standing beside the families of Missouri’s fallen public servants during some of the most difficult moments of their lives. Whether helping guide the organization as a former president, supporting fundraising efforts, or encouraging others to become involved, Rick never sought recognition — he simply wanted to make sure families were not forgotten.

His dedication helped strengthen the mission and future of 10-33, and his legacy continues through every family supported in his memory. Rick’s commitment to service, honor, and compassion will always remain a part of the heart of this organization.

Erin Wilson brought warmth, energy, and heart to every Missouri 10-33 event. She was often seen behind the scenes making sure the details were handled — especially during the golf tournaments she loved so much. Many remember Erin driving her golf cart across the course, checking on volunteers, delivering supplies, and making certain the signs were in the right place and everything looked just right. She proudly became known as “the woman in charge of the signs,” a role she embraced with pride and dedication.

Erin’s contribution went far beyond organizing tournament details. She believed deeply in the purpose behind the work. She understood that every sponsorship sign, every volunteer hour, and every tournament registration represented support for a Missouri family facing unimaginable loss.

Her smile, kindness, and willingness to help wherever needed made a lasting impression on everyone around her. Erin’s passion for the Missouri 10-33 Benevolent Fund could be seen not only in the work she did, but in the joy and care she brought to the mission.

Her memory remains part of every tournament, every gathering, and every family we continue to serve.
