History
A Signal 33 is a radio call for "an officer in need of assistance". It is only used when he or she needs IMMEDIATE assistance. When those brave men and women of the state of Missouri succumb to the greatest sacrifice for the citizens of their state, 10-33 steps in to provide immediate financial assistance to their families and loved ones.
The Missouri 10-33 Benevolent Fund, a tax-deductible 501(c)(3) organization, is dedicated to honor the memories of all persons providing public safety for the citizens of Missouri. The board originally defined a public safety servant as follows: “A public safety servant includes, but is not limited to, a person serving a public agency in an official capacity as a law enforcement officer, firefighter, or member of a public rescue squad or ambulance crew, highway worker, corrections officer, probation and parole officer, mental health worker, conservation agent, park ranger, and judicial officers.” And has since broadened the definition to include employees of the Missouri judicial coalitions, including judges, bailiffs, court clerks, and to include Missouri Electric Cooperative and Municipal Utility line workers who are the state's first responders in the wake of power outages.
The money raised by the Missouri 10-33 Benevolent Fund supports our primary mission of supporting the families of Missouri public servants who have lost their lives in the line of duty. Unlike many benevolent funds, the Missouri 10-33 Benevolent Fund spends very limited money from donations on overhead and administrative costs.

The Missouri 10-33 Benevolent Fund, is the only such organization in the state of Missouri, that reaches all 114 counties and the City of St. Louis and serves families of public service officers from multiple branches of government including state and local law enforcement, firefighters, emergency medical, transportation, corrections, and utilities sectors that work to provide protection to all citizens of the state of Missouri. To date the Missouri 10-33 Benevolent Fund has provided financial assistance to 127 families whose loved ones represented the Missouri Sheriff Officers, Missouri Police Officers, Missouri State Highway Patrol Officers, Missouri Firefighters, Missouri Department of Transportation employees, Missouri Department of Corrections employees, and representatives of Missouri Line Workers.

The small and dedicated members of the Board of Directors and the volunteer team at Missouri 10-33 Benevolent Fund have worked tirelessly to provide immediate financial assistance to those families suffering unimaginable grief.
We are fortunate to have volunteers and staff from all walks of life who bring their unique expertise and resources into everything we do. This is what enables us to provide for the families of those Missourians who have made the ultimate sacrifice in serving the people of our state.
While there is always more that can be done, there is no doubt that the funding provided by 10-33 makes a significant impact in the lives of fellow Missourians who are facing crisis. We measure our success by how quickly and privately we can “assist families in need of assistance.”
